How EMDR Therapy Can Help You Overcome Trauma
At our Rehab Center in Los Angeles, EMDR Therapy is a key method we use to help people move past traumatic memories. Without therapy for trauma, it’s common to get stuck reliving the same upsetting experiences.
EMDR therapy uses a technique called “bilateral stimulation,” or BLS for short. Though it might sound complicated, it’s actually quite simple. BLS involves doing something that gets both sides of your brain working together, like watching a light move back and forth, listening to sounds that alternate between ears, or gently tapping your legs one at a time.
The goal of BLS is to help your brain work through and change how you feel about the traumatic memory. Instead of feeling upset or scared when you remember it, the memory becomes less troubling.
This makes it easier to think about that part of your past without feeling overwhelmed.
We’re here to guide you through this process, making sure you feel supported every step of the way. With our EMDR therapy treatments, we aim to help you find relief from trauma and start feeling more in control of your emotions and life.
